programs

KRATER is evolving from event-based programming to year-round cultural support for multidisciplinary artists and designers.

We are building sustainable infrastructure that empowers underrepresented creatives beyond New York Fashion Week, creating pathways for artistic experimentation, professional development, and economic sustainability.

Our flagship program during New York Fashion Week brings together queer, BIPOC, women-identifying, and Latinx/é designers and artists for immersive fashion performances, pop-up markets, and cultural celebrations.

Since 2023, we have presented 30+ multidisciplinary artists from 10+ countries, providing free access to professional production, press coverage, and direct sales opportunities.

We are expanding our NYFW program to two-day events:

- Day One: Workshops, panels, educational programming, and markets

- Day Two: Fashion performances and after-party

This format creates space for skill-building, community connection, and artistic presentation.

NEW YORK FASHION WEEK

BEYOND THE RUNWAY

KRATER is launching year-round programming to support artists between events and build sustainable creative practices.

  • Artist residencies in the Hudson Valley providing studio space, mentorship, and funding for designers and artists exploring experimental textiles, performance, and collaborative projects.

Residencies prioritize artists working at intersections of fashion, performance, and social practice, with focused support for Latin American creators and immigrants navigating U.S. creative industries.

  • Skill-building programs in experimental textile design, sustainable practices, performance art, and multidisciplinary collaboration.

We connect emerging artists to mentors, resources, and professional development opportunities, building knowledge and networks that support long-term creative careers.

  • Year-round opportunities to present work beyond NYFW, including gallery exhibitions, pop-up markets, collaborative installations, and artist talks.

These platforms provide ongoing visibility and sales opportunities for artists building their practices and audiences.

  • Fair consignment platform with better rates than industry standard, generating ongoing income for designers and artists beyond events.

The store provides year-round sales opportunities while maintaining fair partnerships that support emerging artists rather than extracting from their work.

  • Conversations with designers, artists, and cultural changemakers exploring creativity, identity, transformation, and the intersections of art, fashion, and social practice.

The podcast amplifies voices from our community and creates accessible cultural content reaching beyond New York City.

  • Supporting artists with branding, documentation, portfolio development, and strategic guidance to build sustainable creative practices.

We provide resources that help artists navigate the business side of creative work, from artist statements to grant applications to pricing strategies.

  • Programs in Colombia and Mexico City creating exchange networks between U.S.-based and Latin American artists.

This expansion fosters cultural exchange, collaboration, and mutual support across borders, building bridges between creative communities and challenging U.S.-centric narratives in contemporary art and fashion.

  • Connecting artists with community-based projects, workshops in underserved communities, and initiatives using creativity for collective healing and transformation.

We believe art serves communities beyond galleries and runways, creating space for creative expression, skill-building, and cultural connection in neighborhoods that need it most.

BUILDING SUSTAINABLE INFRASTRUCTURE

KRATER received 501(c)(3) nonprofit status in December 2025. As we evolve from event-based to year-round programming, we are building the sustainable infrastructure our communities need:

- Diversified revenue through sponsorships, donations, and grants

- Strong board governance and strategic planning

- Partnerships with venues, institutions, and cultural organizations - Fair compensation models for artists and collaborators

- Long-term sustainability rather than precarious production

Our goal is simple: create platforms where underrepresented artists can make sustainable livings from their work.
